I thought we were going to the beach! —Intro speech
Jeff Woodie aka Surfer Dude is one of Dave Miller's friends. He is a surfer dude who loves hanging out at the beach.
A clip on the State University corkboard says something about his background: Jeff dropped his portable radio into the shallow water where he was standing, and zapped himself with a minor jolt. Syd and his other friends report that he was momentarily transformed and rattled off 3 random numbers. Syd said that 2 of them were winners in this week's lotto and the other was the high score on one of the arcade games on the boardwalk. Jeff didn't remember the state he was in, but enthused that the experience "was a rush" if not for his damaged radio.
Unlike the other kids, Jeff has no particular ability or skills other than fixing the phone with the Tools, which is something Bernard can also do. He may be chosen simply to facilitate Dave and the other kid. However it is possible that during the game design he had more talents (see below).
In the C64 version he does not make any noise when he walks, as he is not wearing any shoes. In the PC version of the game, the green tentacle follows him, but still doesn't let him pass without giving it food.
Trivia[]
- The reference of his "psychic power" in the game documentation after being electrocuted possibly refers to an another ability he was supposed to have in the original draft of the game: being electrocuted in the game would enable him to find out the secret code to open Dr. Fred's lab door, without necessitating to activate the arcade room and play in order to find it. As this ability was cut for some reason, Jeff became the most useless character.
